On Screen | Confessions of a Shopaholic

Like many of us Rebecca Bloomwood’s obsession with shopping is very bad news for her bank account. In this scene of Confessions of a Shopaholic Bloomwood tries to declutter her closet. Never a fun task for a fashionista!

“I actually have a way normal life for a teenage girl. I mean, I get up and pick out my clothes for school”.

Possibly the best closet that was ever invented. C’mon girls you all remember this one from the cult movie ‘Clueless’. Cher would just let the computer mix and match her tops and bottoms, before selecting a perfectly coordinated ensemble -complete with matching accessories – and then her motorised closet would swing the items to the front for her….pure genius!

Bit strange that we all didn’t end up with one a few years after the movie was released. So I did a quick google search and found a few articles announcing ‘Clueless closet finally a reality”…16 years later! A Japanese design group TeamLab have created a closet which has sensors embedded in the clothes hangers so that, when a garment is picked up, “screens automatically display the various coordinated accessories that would best match the piece in your hand for a complete outfit.” Hmm, not exactly how it worked in the movie. But hey, at least it’s a start.

Surely Apple can come up with an iCloset, right?
