The Spring Summer 2014 collections have hit the runway, starting with New York Fashion Week.
Over the past week my Instagram feed was full of great photos and video from the front row. I love how digital technology has allowed us to see imagery from the runway instantly and in such great detail. Each morning I have loved scrolling through my Instagram and seeing catwalk shots from several different angles, and even from backstage, thanks to the many fashion brands, fashion personalities and celebrities I follow.
So I have put together some of my favourite looks from the best (in my opinion!) Spring Summer collections shown at NYFW.
Oh Louis Vuitton, your shows are always spectacular. For AW12 you shipped in your models on a full size custom-made steam locomotive, for SS13 they came down escalators at life-size shopping mall inside the Louvre.
The collection was a nod to the mod fashions of the 1960’s: slim fitting, pencil skirts, shift dresses and mini skirts in bold geometric shapes and checks paired with pointed toe heels and pixie haircut.
It was a fantastic finale to Paris Fashion Week and the end of the Spring/Summer 2013 fashion circuit.
The Queen of prints put on yet another amazing show at London Fashion Week. Her SS13 collection features prints of foreign banknotes and postage stamps, birds and butterflies, in hues of blue, green, yellow, purple and monochromatic black and white.
I especially loved the shoes, which also sported a postage stamp print.
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez have done it again! Their Proenza Schouler SS13 show at NYFW saw coloured python, boxy silhouettes and perforated leather strutting down the catwalk. It was hard to choose, but these are my five favourite looks.
